Aidan's room

I took some pictures of Aidan's room last night so you all could see how we've got his room set up and decorated. I hate seeing all of the medical stuff, so most of it is all in his closet. Aidan's room is the only one with a walk-in closet. We don't even have clothes hanging in there.

When we were at my mom's things were set up a little differently, especially when he was first home from the hospital and we had to have the suction machine out all the time.

Now, I'm just trying to make it visually stimulating for him. We have several different sets of lights, and I'm planning to make him a light board using some LED string lights I got on clearance after Christmas. I'll take a picture of it once I get it finished.

I love all the color in his room. I just wish I could paint the walls, but we live in an apartment. My mom made Aidan's quilt and the valance over the window.

Oh, and yes, that is Gracie you see in the picture. We had to have her shaved because she was terribly matted. She wouldn't let us brush her when the puppies were around. She looks so weird to me now, and her fur is so short, but it's extremely soft and I just love to rub her. She feels like velvet.

Aidan is doing really well. He's eating a little more than 30cc now. It does depend on what we're trying to feed him, but we're so glad he's actually showing a preference to certain flavors. We're supposed to be getting his new wheelchair next week. I'm really looking forward to getting it for him. We're going to have to get a portable, suitcase style ramp to keep in the van though, because I'm not going to be able to pick this chair up. I'm barely able to lift the other one.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures. :)

Great job on the room - it looks wonderful!!! We check the blog and pray for you often. I have a two year old son who is medically complex due to a genetic condition and Aiden's story has really moved my heart.

What a neat room! If I had a little boy, I'd want him to have a room just like that.

The room is adorable. I'm sure he enjoys looking at all the colors and objects.

Hi Erin,
So glad to hear that he is EATING! That is huge progress!! Way to go Aidan.
I would love to see a pic of the light board you are making. I'm sure Suzy could use it too.
We are coming back to NC for HBOT on March 30th for 3 weeks. Will we see you guys?

We're starting back with hyperbarics on April 6th, so we should see you while you are here.

Thanks for the comments everyone. As soon as I get the light board made (I'm hoping this weekend), I'll take a picture of it. :)

It is really nice. As far as painting is concerned--if you're willing to pay the fee, you could do it. But, find out what the fee is first. However, I really think the way you're doing it is probably stimulating enough. When my boys were little and we lived in an apartment, I hung colorful quilts on the walls. They almost covered the walls and were portable to the next rental.
